Student Council

The Our Shepherd Student Council is made up of 2 representatives from 4th-7th grade and three Executive representatives from the 8th grade. These students are leaders who devote time and energy to help make our school and community a better place to live and learn. They host events like Trunk or Treat, Breakfast with Santa, the Christmas Giving Tree and more.

German Club

Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Do you want to learn German through songs, games and activities? Join the German Club! Geared toward K-4th grade students, but all are welcome! We will meet each Thursday afternoon that there is a full day of school. Questions contact: Jessica Merz 313-460-4621 or

Ski Club

The Ski Club is open to all students and parents. Ski Club is after school on Mondays in January and February at the Pine Knob Ski Resort. All skiers, adults and students, must purchase a $20.00 ski club card to participate in the club, which includes 2 free lessons for students. We look forward to seeing you on the slopes!


Students grades 4th-8th are able to participate in the Safety Program at Our Shepherd. These students are responsible for keeping our students safe. Jobs include crossing guard helpers, circle drive drop off, and helping outside before and after school.


Students grades 4th-8th are able to participate in the Service Program at Our Shepherd. These students are responsible for assisting teachers around the school. Some of their duties include cleaning up classrooms, filing papers, collecting recycle bins, putting away/setting up chairs and keeping our school looking great!

Chess Club

Students 1st - 8th grade are welcome. Members will enjoy learning to play this historic and exciting game with their friends, while benefiting from expanding their critical and logical thinking skills. No prior experience is required - we love to teach new players of all ages. The Chess Club meets every Wednesday before school, from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room. The cost to join the club for the year is $20 per student. Chess Sets, if needed, will be supplied at the cost of $25. Chess Club Polo Shirts, if desired, are $18.
