Pastor Steve is a graduate of Our Shepherd Lutheran School, and has been a member of our church since childhood. After attending Our Shepherd and Cranbrook, he went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University), and enjoyed a career as an engineer in the automotive industry. Throughout his career, he heard the persistent and increasingly strong voice of the Holy Spirit leading him into full-time ministry, and so in 2008 entered a course of study through Concordia Seminary St. Louis. He completed his studies in August 2012.
Pastor Steve (or P-Dubs, as some of the students call him) and his wife, Kim, have known each other since their high school days, and are blessed with four children, all of whom attended Our Shepherd and Lutheran High Northwest: Christian, who has graduated from Concordia University Irvine and now serves as a missionary, special education teacher, and graduate assistant; Emily, who is studying nutrition science; Matthew, who is studying computer science, and Daniel, who is in his Freshman year at Concordia University in Irvine, California. Pastor Steve helps out around the school in a number of ways: leading chapel services, teaching eighth grade religion class, serving the Kindergarten class as Zero the Hero, and reading to children in both the School and Child Care. He loves getting to know the students and their families. You’ll see him every morning in the hallways, visiting with the children and chatting with their parents. He would love to meet you – stop him in the hallway and introduce yourself!
